Christine Chamoun
Co-Owner
Christine is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker celebrating 22 years in the field with more than half of her career dedicated to working in Education. She had the unique experience of teaching overseas in Lebanon. The culture and customs of Lebanon, in particular surrounding food and hospitality, made such a lasting impression. Enjoying the company of others alongside delicious food, was a way of life with the underlying "Lebanese Hospitality" never spared. Christine's goal is for patrons to be able to experience an extension of that at DMG.
In 2019, we opened up a Mediterranean Grill in Medford (in Ironstone Village), just 7 months before the pandemic & crushed it for over 3 years before having to call it quits when life changing challenges took center stage. In closing one chapter of our lives, we were blessed with the ability to forge ahead and we were excited to bring the vision of a small specialy shop, "Dory's Mediterranean Goods" to fruition in the Village at Taunton Forge. What happened next was unexpected, we really got to know what our following loved and missed about the Grill and at the same time in roughly a six month period, we outgrew the little shop space. It became a hunt to find just the right space to bring the Grill back and there was also the biggest dilemma, figuring out how to even fund another project.
We almost gave up. Actually we did give up and then two days later, the space right next door became vacant. When we saw the space our first thoughts -it's perfect, it's really meant to be! Our second thoughts -are we crazy? This was a huge project, after all we had been through. Like so many, all we want is for our family to be happy and healthy and to have healthy food choices. We also really love the community we live in and feel passionate about bringing Lebanese flavors and "Lebanese Hospitality...with a TWIST!" back to Medford. We processed our thoughts and feelings with just about every customer that came through our doors during this period of time -thank you all! We laughed, we cried and life was not without it's ups and downs while trying to figure out how to make it all happen.
In the beginning of December 2024, we celebrated 1 year of Dory's in the Village at Taunton Forge and we dove into building out this beautiful 2,600 square foot space right next door to where the shop was located. In developing the project, we set out to make the most out of this incredible space for our community. We were able to incorporate a special boutique bookshop which we want for guests to know is really a work-in-progress as bookshop life is new to us! With all of this said if you would like to support the Bookshop and overall sustainability of Dory's new Cafe • Grill • Shop, please check out our online platforms. Bookshop.org ships to anywhere within the USA & both platforms have great reviews online!
